Each of our professionals are dedicated to providing patients with compassionate and personalized care. Martin D. Bastuba, M.D., F.A.C.S, Tissue Bank Scientific Director and President

sperm-bank-directorDr. Bastuba, M.D., F.A.C.S., is the founder and medical director of Male Fertility & Sexual Medicine Specialists in San Diego. He is part of the elite group of 2% of board-certified urologists in the U.S. who specialize in the treatments and procedures regarding male fertility. When he is not serving as the scientific director at FCC, he is known as one of the nation's leading vasectomy and vasectomy reversal surgeons.

Dr. Bastuba is a frequent guest lecturer and a consulting medical expert for local and national TV. He has served as president of both the San Diego Reproductive Endocrine Society and San Diego Urologic Society and is currently a clinical instructor of urology at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Bastuba is board-certified by the American Board of Urology. He has published and contributed to a number of research studies in his areas of expertise.

Aaron Spitz, MD, Medical Co-Director

Dr. Aaron Spitz is an urologist with fellowship training in male reproductive medicine and surgery. He is the medical director at the South Orange County Urological Medical Associates in Laguna Hills. Dr. Spitz is a member of the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the American Medical Association and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He also has professional memberships with the American Urological Association, the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction and the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology. Dr. Spitz is the author of several peer review journal articles and has published several chapters regarding treatments for infertility.

Dan Molden, MD, Medical Co-Director

Dr. Molden is the Director at Grossmont Hospital in San Diego. His specialties are anatomic and clinical pathology, cytopathology and immunopathology. Dr. Molden graduated from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and has over 30 years of practice experience. Further training in pathology was completed at the University of California San Diego Medical Center and the Scripps Clinic.

Joe Richard, Clinical Director

Joe Richard has been working in the field of andrology and male infertility for more than 20 years. He received his training in andrology and cryobiology under Dr.Larry Lipschultz at the Baylor College of Medicine, Scott Department of Urology and Male Reproductive Laboratory. In 1991, he established the first andrology laboratory in the Department of Urology at the Emory Clinic, where he worked for the next five years before leading the laboratory teams at Reproductive Biology Associates. Joe has been involved with FCC since 2006 and has a strong passion for patient education and care. He oversees the administrative and clinical aspects at FCC.

Teresa Bastuba, LCSW, Counseling Specialist

Teresa has a Master’s degree in social work. She worked with spinal cord injury patients at the VA San Diego Hospital for several years. She joined the Fertility Center of California, Sperm Bank Inc. in 2006 and specializes in sperm donor database development, sperm donor selection and patient relations.
