Fertility Preservation & the Military: Ensure Your Future Family

Posted on June 1, 2014

At the Fertility Center of California, we offer military men and women the option of pre-deployment fertility preservation. Your decision to serve your country is a noble one. However, that decision may shape your future (including your present or future family) in ways you may not have intended. For instance, a military career – especially deployment to a combat zone - has the potential to pose a serious risk to a person’s fertility. Reproductive organs injured by physical or chemical means could leave you and your partner struggling to conceive. Fertility preservation is a safe, effective way for military men and women to safeguard the precious ability to have a child when they are ready.

Fertility preservation, or cryopreservation, is the freezing and safe storage for future use of a man’s sperm or a woman’s eggs. Although an injury to your reproductive area is unpleasant to consider, our staff has learned that military men and women are realistic about this possibility. In our experience, members of the military coming to our facility for fertility preservation are simply being proactive. They are intrigued with the technology we offer that ensures them the ability to start or further contribute to having a family when they return.

We know you will be pleased with our 20% military discount, which we do not disclose to the public but will be happy to give you upon inquiry. For reference, the full price of storage fees with sperm and egg banking is $350.00 for one year and $625.00 for two years (You will save $75.00 with the two-year option). For each additional year of storage, the overall price decreases. If you would like to learn more about the military discount at Fertility Center of California, please contact us. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

The fertility field continues to make remarkable technological advances, one particularly happy consequence being the ability to preserve eggs and sperm for many years. In fact, successful pregnancies have resulted from both eggs and sperm frozen for over two decades. We are pleased to offer this technology to your military family knowing that you may rest assured that you can start or continue your family on your own timetable after deployment.

Please note: Fertility preservation is an option for anyone who is interested in preserving their fertility regardless of their motivation. If you would like to ensure your future family, please contact the Fertility Center of California for more information.
